Worldcoin chief claims that the appearance of the next iteration will resemble an ‘Apple product.’
Alex Blania, Tools for Humanity’s chief executive officer and co-founder, said it has been slightly more than six months since Worldcoin’s public unveiling. Its revolutionary Orb device is undergoing an improvement.
Worldcoin Unveiling Look-Friendly Orb Device by Mid-2024
During a side conversation at a StrictlyVC event on January 24, Alex said the new Orb is imminent, and the subsequent iterations will appear quite different. He said he joined the firm nearly four years ago, and the Orb’s earlier design preceded his profession at the firm.
Further, Alex noted that Orb’s next unveiling will happen in the first half of 2024 and will comprise optional form factors and colours to enhance ‘friendliness.’ It will generally be ‘more tuned down’ and resemble ‘an Apple product.’
Tools for Humanity is the firm behind Worldcoin’s creation. Sam Altman, Alex Blania, and Max Novendstern co-founded this crypto project. It has generated approximately $250M from different investors, including Bain Capital Crypto, a16z, and others. This startup is famous across crypto spaces and venture capital due to its Orbs device, which raises eyebrows.
The device scans individuals’ irises and later allocates them a ‘World ID’ to access a digital passport and Worldcoin’s application. The authentication process seeks to establish individuals’ identities and prevent them from making several accounts.
Alex said that most individuals in the United States are ‘captivated’ by the Orb’s design, which is sensible. Its flagship device is a ball-sized, five-pound chromatic bowling object that resembles a sci-fi film object. Alex added that individuals either ‘love it or detest it.’
A Tools for Humanity worker said that despite people being sceptical of Worldcoin, some attendees had their irises scanned in exchange for a WorldID. This happened during the StrictlyVC event in downtown San Francisco. Besides, the worker noted that ‘field testing’ for the new Orb has also been there.
Worldcoin Expands to World Tourt to Developed Countries’ Cities
In the beta-experimenting phase, this project focused on adoption in various locations, including Nairobi, Kenya; Bangalore, India; Buenos Aires, Argentina; and Lisbon, Portugal. Afterwards, critics slammed the move by asserting that it focused on developing economies.
Worldcoin also had a world tour in 2023, hitting cities such as New York City (NYC), Tokyo, San Francisco, and Miami to boost its presence.
Worldcoin’s website shows that in the past week, more than 190,000 new accounts were made, while an estimated 3.13 million persons signed up. Alex claimed that the theory is relatively easy. In this case, they get to many people as fast as possible.
