According to data from the Bitcoin Conference’s website, former United States President Donald Trump will speak at this year’s conference. Trump, who will fly the Republican flag in November’s Presidential election, joins independent candidate Robert Kennedy on the list of speakers.
Analysts say that his appearance at the Bitcoin Conference, arguably one of the biggest events in crypto, is part of his campaign strategy to woo Web3 enthusiasts to vote for him later this year.
Trump has shown his belief in crypto over the past few months. In May, he announced that his campaign team would start accepting cryptocurrency donations, such as Solana, Ethereum, Bitcoin, and Dogecoin. Last year, the former US president launched a series of NFT projects that came with several perks.
Kennedy Asks Supporters to Vote for Trump
After finding out that Trump was accepting donations in digital tokens, Kennedy wrote a statement saying he was happy that the former president had changed his stance on Bitcoin, referring to an incident in 2019 when Trump called BTC a scam.
In the past few weeks, Kennedy has urged his supporters to vote for Trump if he drops out of the race. He claims that polling carried out by his team shows Trump being miles ahead of other candidates, including the incumbent President Joe Biden.
Meanwhile, in a recent meeting with crypto miners, Trump pledged to safeguard Bitcoin and put an end to the “crypto crackdown” conducted by the Joe Biden administration. He added that he would prioritize adopting fair policies to create a conducive environment for crypto mining activities if re-elected.
Other US Politicians Set to Speak at Bitcoin Conference
Besides Kennedy and Trump, other politicians expected to speak at the Bitcoin Conference 2024 include Senators Marsha Blackburn, Cynthia Lummis, and Bill Hagerty, former Hawaii Representative Tulsi Gabbard, and Vivek Ramaswamy, the former presidential candidate.
Confirming Trump’s attendance at the conference, his campaign advisor Brian Hughes accused Biden’s administration of stifling the crypto industry with harsh policies while touting Trump as the leader to create a healthy environment for blockchain innovations.
