Crypto gaming firm Ultra has announced its plans to launch an esports platform developed on its own blockchain. Dubbed Ultra Arena, the platform will go live on August 7. It will allow organizations and individuals to create a league or tournament and then reward participants with Ultra’s NFTs and UOS tokens, which will be sent directly to their connected wallets.
Ultra partnered with Belgium-based video game distributor CLD Distribution to develop Ultra Arena. Moreover, the partner will be involved in distributing physical prizes worldwide and marketing the platform to other players in the video gaming industry.
How Ultra Arena Works
Before you start participating on the Ultra Arena platform, you will first need to create a digital identity, which will be stored on the Ultra network. The more you participate, the more you’re trusted. Also, if you win more, you will likely get more respect.
But in case you are found cheating, Ultra will permanently ban you from using their platform. However, gamers that play by the rules stand a chance to enjoy future benefits, including early access to various games that will be added to Ultra Arena. Ultra CEO Nicolas Gilot says such players will be game testers.
When asked why his company decided to create Ultra Arena, Gilot stated that the platform is intended to bridge the gap between professional and amateur players. He claimed that the traditional esports scene has blocked amateur gamers from flourishing as it only favors extremely talented players.
But as for Ultra Arena, it creates a competitive environment for various abilities, making it friendly for both professional and amateur players.
Ultra Arena Introduces a New Esports Model
The esports sector primarily centers on established gaming brands like Counter-Strike and League of Legends. But with Ultra Arena, gamers will be able to play new as well as unreleased games. For this reason, Gilot believes that new games will give professional and amateur players a fair chance of winning.
Meanwhile, Gilot is confident that the crypto rewards offered on Ultra Arena will encourage big brands and gamers to get involved.
