The American tech investor Bill Gates conveyed his forecast for artificial intelligence in the coming year. The distinguished philanthropist is confident the evolutionary technology can be utilized to promote ‘equitability’ across the world.
In his 2024 predictions blog post, Bill Gates, Microsoft’s co-founder, is confident that artificial intelligence (AI) can create ‘a more equitable world.’ The wealthy tycoon claimed that in case smart investments are made now, artificial intelligence can be utilized to reduce or ‘eradicate’ the period innovations get to the ‘rich’ and ‘poor’ worlds.
Africa to Realizes Comparable Level of Utilization
Gates claimed that the primary lesson from artificial intelligence use cases, especially in the international health industries, is that artificial intelligence products should be customized to those who will utilize them.
Gates said that if he were to make a forecast, in high-income nations such as the U.S., people are 18 to 24 months away from major levels of this technology’s utilization by the general population.
Gates said that he expects a ‘comparable level of utilization’ in African nations in about three years. He also claimed that despite a gap, it is shorter compared to the lag times witnessed in other innovations.
Despite being early, Gates claimed that 2023 has offered insights on the kinds of jobs artificial intelligence can do on its own as well as those it will function as a ‘copilot.’ There is still a ‘long way to go’ with obstacles like scaling projects without compromising excellence and developing backend success with long-term functionality.

Earlier in 2023, he envisaged the beginning of the ‘Age of AI’ and said the technology is ‘revolutionary,’ similar to the internet and mobile phones.’ Over the past year, generative artificial intelligence’s quick rise has impacted nearly all major industries across the globe.
