Bazooka Tango, a game studio, will utilize the funds to employ staff and ensure that Shardbound, the Immutable zkEVM game, nears completion.
BitKraft Ventures Lead RW3 Ventures and Sfermion in Fundraiser for Bazooka Tango
Bazooka Tango, a studio developed by ex-developers of Vainglory, a fantasy MOBA game, has acquired $5M in a new funding round directed by Bitkraft Ventures. Other participants in the round included Sfermion, RW3 Ventures, and 1Up Ventures.
Bazooka Tango intends to utilize the most recent funding to increase its team and advance development on Shardbound, its imminent title. Shardbound is committed to unveiling the imminent Immutable zkEVM network.
Bo Daly, Bazooka Tango’s chief executive officer, responded to the funding news by claiming that amid a challenging year for VC funding, it depicts volumes to the games’ quality. Further, he said they are dedicated to expanding their team in vital disciplines crucial for unveiling and expanding the Shardbound universe.
Shardbound Integrating NFT and Turn-based Player Game
Shardbound combines a nonfungible token trading game and a turn-based player-against-player RPG. In this case, players should put characters tactically onto a tiled board.
However, this game was incomplete when Bazooka Tango acquired it from its indie creators at Spiritwalk Games, who had left most of the art assets incomplete. Shardbound’s first version only attained ‘early access’ and was partially financed by Kickstarter participants under its earlier developers, generating nearly $150,000 in 2017.
Bazooka Tango Poaches Executives Drawn From Established Gaming Ecosystems
Back in March, Shardbound’s restoration under Bazooka Tango was revealed. In September, a media outlet momentarily playtested the game in early access and established that the game’s core had been developed. However, some cards depicted placeholder art or totally lacked any art.
Shardbound’s funding, which amounts to millions, will further its development to the end. Already, Bazooka Tango has employed executives from gaming firms such as Disney, Electronic Arts (EA), and Apple. Further, the firm claims it has included developers from different studios, including Sledgehammer Games, 2K, Pocket Gems, and others.
