Ubisoft, a major game publisher, is one of Wemix’s ‘node council partners’ that will authenticate its blockchain.
A late announcement revealed that Ubisoft, the publisher of Rainbow Six: Siege and Assassin’s Creed, will join the blockchain node council of Wemix, a Korean game publisher, as a partner. Ubisoft is one of Wemix’s numerous partners operating validator nodes for its ‘Wemix 3.0’ network, an Ethereum-suitable EVM blockchain.
Ubisoft Partners with WeMix
Earlier, Wemix’s blockchain was only present on the Klaytn mainnet. WeMade has used the term ‘Wemix Classic’ to retitle the older chain and equivalent token.
The new blockchain runs on a proof-of-stake consensus algorithm comprising a proof-of-authority model and proof-of-stake structure. Similar to other blockchains, Wemix’s network requires nodes to verify transactions.
A blockchain node is a computer that runs a blockchain’s software copy and authorizes transactions. Node operators acquire spontaneously disseminated cryptocurrency rewards.
Wemix noted that all the Node Council Partners (NCP) will operate Wemix nodes to authenticate the blockchain. Ubisoft intends to be part of the group as the number ’26.’ According to the Wemix team, ‘Wonders’ is the name of each of the node partners.
Recent Development in the Gaming Industry
At the time of writing, 23 out of 40 partners had been announced. Ubisoft arrived early in blockchain gaming, particularly among big Western publishers.
Besides, it has not indicated signs of reducing its investment in the crypto sector. In 2021, it included free in-game nonfungible tokens (NFTs) in Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint shooter game.
However, gamers criticized it considerably for considering crypto technology. Nevertheless, Ubisoft kept exploring crypto, and in 2022, it became a node operator for the Hedera blockchain. Last year, it became a node operator for the Cronos blockchain.
In 2023, the game company teased Champions Tactics, its forthcoming first blockchain game, and unveiled its initial free nonfungible token mint. Within a few hours, millions of dollars had been traded.
Ubisoft is attempting different things with its most recent pledge to Wemix. However, it has made fresh pledges to consider artificial intelligence-created video game dialogue.
